Heathwick House is situated in a rural area of South Dorset near to Chickerell, not far from the popular seaside town of Weymouth.
We are close to the Jurassic Coast and close to the Coastal Path. Along the coast there are beautiful Villages with many historic features.We are not far from the World Famous Swannery at Abbotsbury. A very picturesque part of Dorset.
The house is very central to the World Heritage Coast area and there are many attractions and events to visit all year round.

- World Heritage Coast (30 mi)
- The Dorset and East Devon coastline of England, where countless fossils have been found over hundreds of years, has been given World Heritage Site Status.
This stretch of Coastline runs from Swanage in East Dorset down to Exmouth in East Devon. It is approximately 95 miles of wonderfully interesting views.
The Jurassic Coast is extremely well served by its Gateway Towns and villages which provide a good range of attractions, museums and visitor centres throughout the area.
- The Isle of Portland & the Bill (7 mi)
- The Isle of Portland is a limestone tied island, 6 kilometres (4 mi) long by 2.4 kilometres (1.5 mi) wide, in the English Channel. Portland is 8 kilometres (5 mi) south of the resort of Weymouth, forming the southernmost point of the county of Dorset, England. Chesil Beach connects it to the mainland, and the A354 road bridge connects it to Weymouth. There wonderful views of the English Channel from Portland Bill.

- a beautiful part of Dorset Coast with walks and views that are spellbounding.Tyneham near Lulworth Cove and Castle is a lost village from the second world war.
Tyneham is a small village and a parish in South Dorset on the Isle of Purbeck, in close proximity to Worbarrow Bay on the Jurassic Coast,
which was evacuated during World War II as a temporary measure by order of the War Office,
& used as a firing range and a training ground for troops, village was never returned to its residents.

- The County Town of Dorchester offers many points of interest to visit.
Most people will have heard of Judge Jefferies who prisided in Dorchester.
Maiden Castle is the largest hillfort in England extending 45 acres,and lies about 2 miles to the south of Dorchester town centre.
The hillfort was first occupied around 3000 BC, and contains a complex arrangement of ramparts and ditches.
Thomas Hardy was born in Higher Bockhampton, a small village just three miles outside Dorchester, in 1840.

As you can see we are close to the World Famous Chesil Beach which runs from Portland down to Bridport. The Path then goes on towards the west at Golden Cap.

- The Sea Life Centre have added a new Shark Breeding unit this year.
You will enjoy a day both indoors and outlooking at the many Marine Exhibits.

- Made popular by the Sky TV Channel 'Animal Planet' thia is a wonderful day out for the Family.
You can 'adopt a chimp', all of whom have been rescued from around Europe and around the World.
- Tank Museum (20 mi)
- At Bovington Army Camp there is a famous Tank Museum.This trip can be done in conjunction with Monkey world, they are a couple of miles apart

- We are fortunate to be Hosting the 2012 Olympic Sailing Events.
Weymouth Bay and Portland Harbour will be the venue for the Olympic and Paralympic Sailing competitions.
It is the first London 2012 Games venue to be finished.
Weymouth Bay and Portland Harbour provides some of the best natural sailing waters in the UK, with facilities on land to match.
The site has already hosted nternational sailing events, including the 2006 ISAF World Youth Championships. Why not come and look around.
